Hypnogogia (named Portent in the Inner Darkness Gallery on my website) was a single image winner in the Digital/Analog Manipulation Category, p. 49, and The Fantasy and the Reality in Venice was the People's Choice Award in the People/Places Category, p. 193, of BLACK & WHITE MAGAZINE, Issue 151, February 2022.

2021


The Road to Dalsnibba has been selected for publication in Lens Work's Our Magnificent Planet 2021. This image was previously published in Photo District News.


Beginning to End is a Spotlight Award winner in Black & White Magazine, Issue 150, January 2022, p. 34 (published October 2021). "Beginning to End," is the opening image in my "Inner Darkness" series where it is titled, "Spirits."

Boat at the End of the Dock and Parson's Creek were Nominees in the16th Annual International Color Awards competition. "Boat" was a Nominee in the Amateur Americana Category and "Parson's Creek" in the Amateur Nature Category.


Just Another Pretty Landscape. Eight images from this series received Honorable Mention in the Amateur Landscapes and Seascapes category of the 20th Pollux Awards. A Drowned Tree and the Far Shore was a Nominee in the same category but did not win an award.


Jordan Lake Sunrise: The Near Shore, Fishing at Jordan Lake, and How Small We Are were Nominees in the International Color Awards annual contest for professional and amateur photographers. The first image as in the Amateur Nature Category and the second two were in the Amateur Sport Category.

Cloudy Sunrise on White Oak Creek was awarded second place in the annual competition for best POM of the year 2021.

Drinking Buddies and Madonna Road were awarded First Place in the Amateur Americana and Fine Art Categories, respectively, of the International Color Awards for 2019. I was also named Amateur Photographer of the Year based on those wins.

Madonna Road was juried into the 311 Gallery Landscapes and Seascapes Show, Raleigh, NC, September 5-28, 2019.


The Sign Has it Right and The Fantasy and the Reality in Venice were juried into the National Black and White Show at the 311 Gallery, Raleigh, NC. The show runs from October 31 to November 30, 2019.


Self-Reflection, Mirror, Mirror, and Madonna Road were juried into the 12th Annual National Juried Show put on by Cary Photographic Artists.  Self-Reflection was awarded a first place in the monochrome print competition. The show runs from October 25 to December 13, 2019, in Cary, NC.

Gathering Thunderhead Over the Prairie. is being shown at the Seymour Center, 2551 Homestead Road, Chapel Hill, NC, sponsored by the Chapel Hill Camera Club, September 21-November 14, 2024. The exhibit is called "Photographic Journeys."


Structures: The Art in what We Build, Creative Imaging Group Show at the Page-Walker Art & History Center, Cary, NC, September 18-October 5, 2024. The Creative Imaging Group is Les Real, John Lapp, Billy Stewart, Henry Rinne, and Jon Meyer. My images in the show are A Banner of Steam on a Foggy Night, Ducts About too Ascend, Gathering Storm at a Manufacturing Site, Just Another Pretty Landscape, Leading to the Ascending Ducts, The Train Passes, The Twin Towers, and Curved Ducts and Tanks.


Drought--and the Old Roadbed Emerges, was juried into the Maryland Federation of Art show, "The Changing Americas," Circle Gallery, Annapolis, MD, August 28-September 21, 2024.


Spirits and Changeling from my Inner Darkness portfolio were juried into the Maryland Federation of Art's online show, "Portals." The show will run online from June 14 to July 31, 2024. Gathering Thunderhead Over the Prairie and Front Coming On were shown in the Chapel Hill Camera Club's show "People, Places, and Things" at the Frame & Print Shop, Chapel Hill, NC, May 16-July 11, 2024.


A Tree with a Haircut was juried into a show "Field Work: Trees and Water" at the Black Box Gallery in Portland, OR. The show in the gallery runs from May 1-20, 2024.


2023


Just Another Pretty Landscape was shown at Through This Lens gallery in Durham, NC, from October 20 to November 15. There were 19 printed, matted, and framed images in the show.


The Boat at the End of the Dock, Farrington Point, Front Coming On, and Gathering Thunderhead Over the Prairie were juried into Cary Photographic Artists' 16th Annual Fall Juried Show on October 27, 2023. The Boat at the End of the Dock, Farrington Point was awarded Best in Show. This juried show is virtually unique in that the images are not judged on digital images but rather on printed, matted, and framed images so that the judges make their decisions on the basis of the actual final product. Condos I was juried into an exhibit of images at Through This Lens gallery in Durham, NC. The show runs from August 10 to September 19, 2022.


2021


Inner Darkness an eight image monochrome portfolio will be featured at Through This Lens gallery in Durham, NC, November 19, 2021-January 8, 2022. The artist's reception is from 5-8 PM, November 19, 2021.


Just Another Pretty Landscape received Honorable Mention in the Color Category in the Cary Photographic Artists 14th Annual Juried Show, Cary, NC, November 12-December 17, 2021. Also juried into the show was A Stillness at Dawn in the Color Category.


The Three Faces of Eve (AKA "Spirits," the opening image in my 8 image series "Inner Darkness"), was juried into the Durham Art Guild's 67th Annual Juried Art Show, October 1-November 30, 2021, Durham, NC.


Inner Darkness: Spirits and Inner Darkness: Despair are hanging by invitation in the FotoNostrum gallery in Barcelona, Spain. They are part of the exhibit entitled Melancholia, Part I, Mourning. The exhibit will run from June 18, 2021, to September 18, 2021. The exhibit is also accompanied by an online gallery. Madonna Road and Hilltop in Snow were juried into the Allegany National Photography Competition and Exhibition, Allegany Art Center, Cumberland, MD, April 4-24, 2021.


Inner Darkness my eight image monochrome portfolio illustrating the pain, turmoil, and torment of being haunted by one's own ghosts is being featured online through the Boston Psychoanalytic Society and Institute's library, Boston, MA. 2020


Self-Reflection, was juried into the gallery show in Photo Place Gallery, Middlebury, VT. The image will hang from November 26 to December 26, 2020. This is the lead image in the portfolio, "In the Mind's Eye," which was just taken down from a solo show in Through This Lens gallery in Durham, NC.


In the Mind's Eye, a solo exhibition of a psychoanalytic study of a modern woman struggling with whether her femininity is defined by Eve or by #MeToo. The portfolio has 15 images depicting the exploration of those issues through psychoanalysis. Through This Lens Gallery, Durham, NC, September 18-October 10, 2020. Portions of this portfolio were previously shown in Boston (below).


Just Another Pretty Landscape was juried into the Allegany National Photographic Exhibition, Cumberland, MD, June 27 - July 18, 2020 (assuming no further interruption due to the Corona Virus.)


2019


Self-Reflection, Mirror, Mirror, and Madonna Road were juried into the 12th Annual National Juried Print Competition put on by the Cary Photographic Artists. Self-Reflection was awarded first place in the monochrome print competition. The show runs from October 25 to December 13, 2019, at the Cary Senior Center in Cary, NC. 


The Sign Has It Right and The Fantasy and the Reality in Venice were juried into the National Black and White Show at the 311 Gallery in Raleigh, NC. The show runs from October 31 to November 30, 2019.


Madonna Road was juried into the 311 Gallery's Landscapes and Seascapes Show running from September 5 - 28, 2019. The 311 Gallery is located in Raleigh, North Carolina.


In the Mind's Eye Selected Images. Eight images from the portfolio of fifteen are on exhibit at the Hanns Sachs Memorial Library, the Boston Psychoanalytic Society and Institute, Newton Center, MA. The exhibit will run from January to June.

2017

Into the Woods, a series of three images, "Into the Woods 1-First Approach," "Into the Woods 2-Along the Road," and "Into the Woods 3-Toward the Fog" that are a part of my six panel Into the Woods series. The images were captured in Beartown State Park West Virginia on a foggy, rainy weekend. I was a Finalist in the 2017 9th Annual Pollux Awards Competition which allowed me to enter 3 images into this Gala Awards show in London. The images will be on display at The Framer's Gallery from September 19 to the 29th. 


Diversity, show as part of the Creative Imaging Workshop, Bernice Kish Gallery, Columbia, Maryland, Jauary 2 to February 11, 2017. My series of seven images is built upon the common enough phenomenon of being caugt in a down pour while in your car. All of the pictures are taken from my car either parked on the street or in a parking lot and take advantage of the distortions that rain makes in photography. Images are as follows: Get That Door Open, Let Me Help You in the Car, Parking Closer to Home,Caught in a Downpour, On the Road Looking Forward, Get Out Of the Rain, On the Street Looking Backward.
